Fraudulent job postings policy
How we keep fake job postings off our site, how to report a posting you are unsure about, and what we do with your report.
Version 2026-11-03 · In effect from November 3, 2026
Scammers sometimes pose as recruiters, or copy real job postings, to take money or personal information from people looking for work. This policy explains how we keep fraudulent postings off innovostaffing.ca, how to report a posting you think is fraudulent, and what we do with your report.
What counts as a fraudulent job posting
A job posting is fraudulent when it is designed to mislead or take advantage of job seekers. Warning signs include a posting, or someone claiming to recruit for it, that:
- advertises a job that doesn’t exist, or pay that seems too good for the work;
- asks you to pay a fee, or to buy equipment, training or a uniform, before you can start;
- asks for your social insurance number, banking details or ID documents before you have a job offer;
- claims to come from Innovo Staffing, or from a real employer, without their permission;
- sends you a cheque and asks you to deposit it and send part of the money back;
- keeps all contact to text messages or chat apps, and won’t speak to you by phone, by video or in person.
How we keep our postings genuine
- Only Innovo Staffing staff can publish jobs on this site. Employers and other visitors cannot post.
- Every posting has a reference number that starts with INV, such as INV-1001. Quote it whenever you contact us about a job.
- We never charge job seekers a fee: not to register, not to apply and not to be placed in a job.
- We will never ask you to buy equipment or training, or to cash a cheque and send money on.
- We don’t ask for your social insurance number or banking details before we offer you a job.
- Our emails come from addresses ending in innovostaffing.ca.
How to report a posting
If you see a posting on this site, or anywhere else that uses the Innovo Staffing name, and you think it may be fraudulent:
- Fill in the report form on this page, or email info@innovostaffing.ca.
- Give us the job reference (for example INV-1001) or a link to the posting, and tell us what made you suspicious. If you email us, screenshots help.
- Leave your name and email address if you would like us to follow up. They are optional, so you can report anonymously.
Reporting is free, and you don’t need an account.
What we do with a report
- Every report goes straight to our staff, who review it promptly.
- We check the posting against our own records and, when it is for a client’s position, with that client.
- If a posting on our site turns out to be fraudulent or misleading, we take it down. If a posting elsewhere misuses our name, we ask the site that hosts it to remove it.
- If you left your contact details, we tell you the outcome.
- Where appropriate, we pass the information to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or the police.
- We keep a record of every report and of what we did about it.
If you think you have been targeted by a scam
- Stop all contact, and don’t send money or any more personal information.
- If you shared your banking details, call your bank right away.
- If you shared your social insurance number, contact Service Canada.
- Report the scam to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
- Report it to your local police.
